It all started when…

I saw a huge gap within the wedding + creative industry when I worked for a floral designer back in Arkansas. There were words of "let's collaborate", "us ladies should be standing beside each other, helping each other out", "we should never be against each other, it should always be community over competition". But those words did not match up their actions. It was more of a 'get ahead', 'cut throat' type of industry. So much gossip, degrading, taking advantage of, etc.

This is when I left the industry in Arkansas and moved to Dallas. I found very quickly that this area was for each other and cheerleaders on the sideline. I craved for that when I had my career in Arkansas. Now I have found a way to bring all creative entrepreneurs together to not only build relationships, but understand each others' business so that we can encourage each other throughout their business day. When envisioning 'EMPOWER', I saw passionate business owners teaching their expertise to young entrepreneurs that wouldn't receive the types of teachings they need to build a profitable, and successful business- because that teacher did not want to share their trade-secrets. I think otherwise. I believe that those teachings can be used in different ways that other creatives brand their businesses. I believe that everyone should have their fair share of understanding how to create a specific work of art without having to pay thousands of dollars.

This is why I created EMPOWER. This event will consist of four different workshops by a photographer, a calligrapher, a floral designer, and a planner/stylist. With our years of expertise, we have come up with workshop elements that are not often taught at other workshops- and this is why I believe that this event will inspire young entrepreneurs in a way that they will want to see the creative industry thrive.

Following the workshops, the students will be able to put their knowledge from that day to create a beautiful dinner party. This is where we will invite other women entrepreneurs, small business owners, and bloggers to join us for a celebration of empowerment. There are separate tickets for workshops and dinner, so be sure to register for both! I am so excited to get to meet each and every one of you! What an absolute blast this event will be!

Elise Woods- floral designer + empower creator

Growing up, Elise has always had a niche for creativity. Being drawn to art, architecture, and most of all- storytelling. When becoming part of the wedding industry, she worked around editorial but saw that within designing floral, there was a story to tell. Elise has a burning passion to bring storytelling through her designs, which are sought after throughout the nation.

Amanda smith- production manager

Hi!- my name is Amanda Smith. I wear many hats and I wouldn't have it any other way! I am a full time teacher and business owner/blogger/event planner/creator of Dallas Girl Gang. I love people and bringing people together for fun and memories. My experience ranges from planning events for my business, Dallas Girl Gang and in conjunction with Elise Woods (Prim + Lovely) floral workshops!  We are so excited to share this experience with you and pray you are filled with inspiration and encouragement when you leave.

alexa Vossler- photographer

Hello there!- My name is Alexa. Most days you can find me with my hair in a top knot, craving tacosa margarita & queso (those are the best food groups after all), and talking in a dog mom voice too much to my pup Benji (c'mon all of you animal lovers out there.. you know exactly what I'm describing here). I'm an avid recycler, extroverted introvert, & have a huuuge birthmark on my entire arm that kinda looks like a tattoo sleeve - I'd say my husband is definitely jealous because he's been wanting to get a three-quarter sleeve for a while now ;)

I'm in my 5th year of business and excited to share some of the things I've learned & know with you. I've photographed hundreds of people and worked with brands such as International Justice Mission, Avon, Skinceuticals, Instagram, EOS, Morgan Stanley, Famous Footwear, Quiznos, Chipotle, and La Roche-Posay.

I'm 100% convinced that I was born to be a photographer - there's nothing that makes me come alive more than taking someone's photo and making them feel like a million bucks in front of my lens. Let's be friends and help you see some serious success with your photography business shall we?

Britni Ramsey- Planner + Stylist

Hello lovelies! I’m Britni, the dreamer who created and drives Borrowed & Blue Occasions. I never thought I would become a Wedding Planner but after helping my friends through college and watching them truly enjoy one of the most important days of their lives, I was hooked and that’s where B&B was born.
I live in the DFW area of Texas with my amazing hubby Stephen and our adorable fur baby, Jackson.  I love brunch with my girls & a fresh bouquet of flowers to brighten up my office. My go to playlist is the sound track from Safe Haven – it will turn any bad day into a good one. My favorite color is leopard print & yes, it is a color. I have had the amazing opportunity to be featured on blogs like Style Me Pretty, Southern Weddings, Ruffled, Elizabeth Anne, Magnolia Rouge and Wedding Chicks - Along with having my work printed in D Weddings and Brides of North Texas Magazines!
I love creating a memorable experience for my couples & hope to create long lasting relationships that go beyond their wedding day!

Brandy Leyva- Calligrapher

Hi there!- I am Brandy and I'm a Texas transplant originally from Oklahoma. My husband and I are proud dog parents to our three furry children. As a child I was always drawing or hand lettering, which continued on as as an adult. A little over 4 years ago, I taught myself calligraphy and instantly fell in love, but it wasn’t until last year with grace of God, and the support of my husband that Leyco Lettering was officially formed. In that time, I have been so blessed to be featured in Brides of North Texas, Style Me Pretty, 100 Layer Cake, Magnolia Rouge, Kentucky Bride Magazine, Munaluchi Bride and Wedding Sparrow. Aside from the actual calligraphy, I love the opportunity to meet others, and the relationships that are made while getting to do what I am truly passionate about. Cannot wait to see you at Empower!
